Top 10 Cricketers Who Tried Their Luck In Films

Sreesanth

While the Delhi High Court has dropped fixing charges against him, he is prepping up to make another entry into the Indian team and the entertainment industry as well. He will be seen in Pooja Bhatt and Bhushan Kumar's co-production, 'Cabaret'. This will be the cricketer's first Hindi film and he has done workshops to sharpen his acting skills.

Ajay Jadeja

Ajay Jadeja was a successful cricketer having played for Indian cricket team from 1992 to 2000 until a match-fixing scandal undid him. He was banned for five years. But by the time the Delhi High Court revoked the ban and made him eligible to play international and domestic cricket, he had worked out an alternative plan for himself. Ajay made his Bollywood debut with 'Khel' (2003) also starring Sunny Deol and Suniel Shetty. But it didn't prove propitious for him.

 Kapil Dev

His image is synonymous with the 1983 World Cup that India lifted for the first time in the history of cricket. He charmed the world of cricket in a remarkable way and continued to do the same when he appeared in various Bollywood movies like Iqbal and Mujhse Shaadi Karogi. The Haryana ‘Hurricane’ does know how to knock out the spectator in any “field”.

Syed Kirmani

The former Indian wicket-keeper Syed Kirmani not only acted in a movie, but he acted as a villain against another cricketer of his time Sandeep Patil. The both of them have an intense fight scene in the movie Kabhi Ajnabi The. A negative character is usually a big risk and Syed Kirmani nailed it.

Salil Ankola

We may not have seen much of his cricketing days, but Salil Ankola made his test match début with none other than the God of cricket – Sachin Tendulkar. Salil started his acting career with television serials like Kurukshetra and Chahat Aur Nafrat. Looks like he made a smart move.

Vinod Kambli

Vinod Kambli rocked the cricketing world when he scored two back to back double centuries in test matches way back in 1993. However, his unruly sportsman spirit got in his way of sticking to the game. He even tried his hand at Bollywood, by appearing in the movie Aanarth starring Suniel Shetty, but since the movie failed, he couldn’t pursue this route any more.

Mohsin Khan

The former Pakistani cricketer who was also once the chief selector of the Pakistan national cricket team made his way into B-town with the movie Batwara. The movie was a multi-starcast project with many veteran actors such as Dharmendra, Vinod Khanna, Dimple Kapadia, Amrita Singh, Poonam Dhillon, Shammi Kapoor and Amrish Puri in different roles. He even did some Urdu films back in Pakistan.

Brett Lee

The former Australian cricketer who was a quite heavy for his cricket skills for loads of the batsmen across the globe gave in to Bollywood magic with his debut movie UnIndian. Directed by Anupam Sharma, this rom-com has Tannishtha Chatterjee paired against Brett Lee. The movie gives the viewers a chance to see the romantic side of this fast bowler.

Yuvraj Singh

Like his father Yograj Singh who worked in both cricket and films. Yuvraj may not have acted as an adult like his father, but Yuvraj attempted movies as a child actor. He mostly did Punjabi films as a child artist. He fell love in cricket as adult and never switched sides again.

Sachin Tendulkar

The God whose retirement from cricket made the country really unhappy is rumored to try his luck in Bollywood soon. The biopic on Sachin where Sachin would be playing himself is coming up this week. Well, we all know that no one can do a better job at being the ‘Master Blaster’, than Sachin himself.
